Course Overview

This course is unique because it actually teaches practices, not just about them. Each week you'll learn a different contemplative technique, receive guided recordings, and practice with a community. By course end, you'll have a rich toolkit of practices suited to your temperament and beliefs.

Weekly Practice Modules

Week 1: Mindfulness Meditation

Vipassana/mindfulness practice from Buddhism. Observing breath, body, and mind with gentle awareness.

Week 2: Loving-Kindness Meditation

Metta practice. Cultivating compassion for yourself, loved ones, neutral people, difficult people, and all beings.

Week 3: Mantra & Japa Yoga

Hindu mantra practice. Using sacred sounds to focus mind and connect with divine. Chanting and silent repetition.

Week 4: Contemplative Prayer

Christian and ecumenical contemplative prayer. Centering prayer, lectio divina, and silent presence with the Divine.

Week 5: Dhikr & Sufi Remembrance

Islamic practice of remembrance. Sacred phrases, breath synchronized practice, and ecstatic devotion.

Week 6: Body-Based Practices

Yoga, tai chi, qigong, and movement meditation. Integrating body, breath, and consciousness.

Week 7: Nature Contemplation & Taoism

Taoist practices connecting with nature. Walking meditation, nature immersion, and finding Tao in natural settings.

Week 8: Integration & Personal Practice

Bringing it together. Designing your personal practice combining techniques that resonate with you.

Tenzin Dorje (Michael Wheeler)

Tenzin Dorje has 30 years of meditation experience across Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, and Sufi traditions. He studied in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, spent years as a Christian contemplative, and trained with Sufi masters. His unique gift is making all traditions accessible and respectful.
